L.S. Dunes make their Toronto Debut at The Velvet Underground

The Velvet Underground on Tuesday night was packed with fans eager to catch the highly anticipated rock supergroup L.S. Dunes perform their first Toronto show. If you didn't know, L.S. Dunes consists of Circa Survive and Saosin vocalist Anthony Green, My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero, Coheed and Cambria guitarist Travis Stever, and Thursday bassist Tim Payne and drummer Tucker Rule.

The show kicked off with Hamilton heavyweights Dead Tired, performing their first live gig in three years. They absolutely ripped with a high energy punch to the gut featuring pummeling guitars, devishly deep bass lines and George Pettit's trademark growl. Their third full length album Satan Will Follow You Home was released on July 8th via New Damage Records. It's a must listen if you haven't dived in yet.

Next up was New York's Kayleigh Goldsworthy, touring in support of her latest Will Yip produced album Learning to be Happy via Memory Music. It was my first time hearing Kayleigh, and it was a pleasant surprise with a much needed shift in energy after getting annihilated by Dead Tired.

Finally, it was time for the moment we were all waiting for, L.S. Dunes. They came out swinging with their high-energy track "Bombsquad", blasted into "Life Forever" and kept firing at us with 'Grey Veins". Their energy was contagious and didn't let up aside from celebrating Dead Tired for kicking so much ass and helping fans not get crushed in the tiny venue. We got a taste of their entire debut album Past Lives, but in a new order and it rocked. The set closed with their album ender "Sleep Cult" and brought out Kayleigh Goldsworthy to help with backup vocals making it the perfect send off from a solid night of music.
