Hot Mulligan's #1 Hot New Band claim proves true with a much needed dose of post-emo at History

Lansing, Michigan's Hot Mulligan set the emo-tone for the night at History in Toronto on March 20th, 2023. Opening up for pop-punk band The Wonder Years, they coasted through hits from their successful studio albums Pilot (2018), and you'll be fine (2020), along with tracks from their eps.

They came out with a bang, playing fan favourites "OG Bule Sky," "*equip sunglasses*," and "Digging In" and immediately sent the fans into a frenzy as they crowd surfed to glory. After the momentary shot of adrenaline, lead singer Nathan Sanville paused, asking the audience if they would be up to "trying something?". I expected that he would start some sort of chant, sing along, or even a good old-fashioned wave, but no. He collectively rallied the fans to crack their fingers simultaneously. There was a pause, and then... CRACKS! Nastiness aside, it was impressive how many cracks you could hear.

Hot Mulligan performed a flawless, emotional and fun set keeping us entertained with their on-stage banter. From giving us props on Canada's "good food" to our crackhead mayor from the past, it made for a wildly entertaining good time and memorable night of music.
