Listen to "Dead Mother Moon" by Upon Stone

With a relentless surge of melodic brutality, Upon Stone is set to unveil their highly anticipated debut album, Dead Mother Moon, on January 19th, 2024, via Century Media. Produced and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit (known for his work with Twitching Tongues and Nails), this nine-song powerhouse promises to be a visceral journey into the heart of Melodic Death Metal fans.

From the opening title track to the ferocious "Onyx Through the Heart" and the haunting melodies of "Dusk Sang Fairest," Dead Mother Moon not only pays homage to the early 90s Scandinavian underground metal scene but breathes new life into its very essence. Thematically, the album delves into profound subjects such as isolation, loss, the quest for meaning, and a triumphant return to strength. These themes are explored through a lens of mysticism and the occult, adding an intriguing layer to the experience.

The roots of Upon Stone trace back to the teenage years of vocalist and bassist Xavier Wahlberg, drummer Wyatt Bentley, and guitarist Ronny Marks. Initially playing together in various Valley bedroom-bred outfits, the band reached its full fruition in 2021 with the release of the EP Where Wild Sorrows Grow on Creator Destructor, featuring guitarist Gage Goss. Since then, the band has been on a relentless gigging spree, carving a niche audience within Los Angeles' hardcore and metal communities. Sharing stages with notable acts like Bewitcher, Creeping Death, and Vomit Forth, Upon Stone solidified their presence and began crafting the ferocious Dead Mother Moon.

Get stoked for the release this coming Friday. Upon Stone's Dead Mother Moon is shaping up to be one of the year's best metal releases, and we're only just getting started. Listen to the title track and watch the music video below:
