Cold Specks the 23-year-old Polaris Prize Short List Nominee from Etobicoke is simply… inspiring.
Al Spx (Cold Specks) and her band performed at The Great Hall on Wednesday August 8th 2012, where she put on one hell of a show to the seated fans silently watching and listening. Admitting that it was extremely tough for herself and the band to put together the setlist, I believe it was a perfect mix between her older and new songs that flowed in and out beautifully. Moments of greatness shined on that stage, whether it was the whole band jiving together or when everyone stepped back to allow Al (Cold Specks) to belt out her wonderful vocals. On two occasions Al even took the mic away to fill the hall with a natural warming acapella (which was outstanding, original and unique). The sold out show was left with not a second of disappointment and you could tell with the multiple standing ovations that this live set was one not to be missed.
