Gig Review: Stone Temple Pilots @ Copps Coliseum
Stone Temple Pilots embarked on their 2012 North American tour and one of the Canadian stops on the tour was non other than Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario. Beyond The Watch was there to photograph the first three songs of their set and was it ever exciting to be in the pit for Stone Temple Pilots. Scott Weiland from what I know, is always a tricky frontman to shoot. You never really know what he’s going to be up to. Sometimes reserved and sitting deep on the stage or blasting out energy and getting in real close with the photographers/fans upfront. Their reunion…
Review: Sharon Van Etten & Tennis @ The Phoenix
“I wrote that after I dated a hardcore Christian… He was fine.” -Sharon van Etten Maybe it’s because I’ve had the Olympics on my mind, but when BTW’s own Steve asked me if I wanted to go see Tennis, Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley were the farthest things from my mind. About 15 years later, Refused has reunited to tour the legendary record that transcended time. Toronto was graced with two shows back-to-back at The Sound Academy, where fans from across the GTA got…
Review: Norah Jones @ Massey Hall
It’s been a while since I’ve been to a show I would put under the category of chill. Even a blues show I attended recently at a small bar in Ancaster, had a crowd cheering ‘we’re not worthy’ and cougars licking their lips at the young lead singer on stage. But, as I walked into Massey Hall on Friday night, despite the surprisingly eclectic crowd, I could sense that it was going to be a chill evening. The house lights dimmed and the stage lit up, highlighting strands of origami cranes. Norah Jones and the band began the evening with…
