CMW2013: Suuns @ Lee’s Palace (Photos)
On Saturday March 23rd, the Montréal based Suuns took the stage at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace for a late night Canadian Music Week performance. Suuns put on a trippy and atmospheric set that was worth the wait to see long into the night. One of the best gigs I attended at this years festival was these Montréal dudes and next time they’re back… DO NOT MISS THEIR SHOW! We recently sat down with Suuns at The Common (a wonderful little coffee shop on Bloor West) for an interview which should be up on the site soon. Stay tuned for that, but in the meantime check…
News: Osheaga 2013 Lineup Announced
The Osheaga 2013 lineup has officially been announced and once again will be a banger! It’s not as exciting as 2012′s lineup but non the less… this will be one of the best festivals Canadians can see without having to fly out of the country. With acts like The Cure, Mumford and Sons, Phoenix, New Order, Vampire Weekend, The Lumineers, Kendrick Lamar, Hot Chip & Macklemore & Ryan Lewis… how could you not agree that this will be an epic show? There’s plenty more artists worth noting but those are the “big deals” that are going to be performing. Check out…

News: Young Galaxy Announce New Record “Ultramarine”
Ultramarine is the name and colour of Young Galaxy‘s fourth LP, the first album they have made away from Montreal, across the sea, all together. Like 2011′s Shapeshifting, Ultramarine was made with electronic producer Dan Lissvik (Studio); but this time it was made in Gothenburg, Sweden, at Lissvik’s studio; this time five musicians stood in a room with Lissvik, playing their instruments; this time every song was sung by co-founder Catherine McCandless. “In being away from home we felt like we could risk more,” McCandless says. “Take bigger chances. Things we didn’t think would work, we tried anyway.” Whereas Shapeshifting was compartmentalized – songs recorded in Montreal, sent to Lissvik to transmute - Ultramarine came…
News: Alexisonfire Announce Farewell Tour Dates
With announcement that every Canadian’s favourite band Alexisonfire were dismembering, it came to their fans as a shock and left everyone wanting one more hit of AOF before they were really gone. Clearly this resonated with the band and they decided to put a doomsday clock on their website counting down to some sort of intriguing event, which everyone knew would be the announcement of tour dates. Here’s the official announcment they left on their Facebook page: As promised in 2010 – we’re back for a Farewell Tour. We know that this tour doesn’t reach all of you, and this…
Check Out: Dumb Adults
Well, well, well what do we have here? Dumb Adults a.k.a. 4 idiots playing Rock n Roll. If you were ever a fan of The Sainte Catherines, you’re sure to dig this new offering from Montreal, QU. From the land of the slowest moving people in the world comes some great, fast moving rock. The band features members of Dig It Up and the Vaillancourt family. Each song is catchier than the last and seems to spark this uncontrollable desire to get fucked up. They’ve been described as ‘A sweet mix between Turbonegro, The Bronx and The Dirty Tricks, with…
Review: Sam Roberts Band @ Echo Beach
I always thought it was a trend amongst university students to declare Thursday the new Friday. Everything good happened on Thursdays. Pub nights, dance parties, fundraisers- you name it. Why? People rarely had class on Friday. I figured once I finished university and got out into the ‘real world,’ people would stop partying on Thursdays for fear of early morning zombification. Not so, my friends. Not so. Maybe it’s just a symptom of the summer time, but Thursday night at Echo Beach was a party, and the man responsible for it was Montreal’s Sam Roberts. There are many things that…
