Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are currently on tour supporting their brand new release Push The Sky Away. On Saturday March 23rd, 2013, the band made their way through Toronto’s legendary Massey Hall during Canadian Music Week. The show featured Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten, who opened up the show with a very intimate and moody set, paired only with a drummer. Sharon Van Etten is entertaining beyond her musical talents. Her ability to just speak out and ramble on about how things are weird or let you know exactly how she feels is amazing. Her gigs are more than personal and they…

Pickwick Seattle’s, indie rock/R&B group Pickwick have been gaining more and more fans over the past two years who are falling in love with their music. If you were familiar with Pickwick’s past effort and what’s been called their “demo” Myths, then you would most likely think they’re a folk rock band. However, Pickwick has transformed and their new songs are intimate and dripping with greasy, hard blues and cool soul at every turn. The band is set to release their debut LP Can’t Talk Medicine via. Dine Alone Records on March 12, 2013. Check out our full album review for Can’t Talk…

Release Date: March 12, 2013 | Record Label: Dine Alone Records Hailing from Seattle, indie rock/R&B group Pickwick have certainly carved out their own sound and have steadily gained a following in the last two years. It was only in 2011 that Pickwick departed from their original folk/American sound and released Myths, the critically acclaimed and commercially successful 7-inch of “demos”. Can’t Talk Medicine marks the band’s debut LP on Dine Alone Records, and fans of Myths will be happy with the forward step Pickwick have taken. Pickwick famously recorded their original 7-inch in their own basement. For Can’t Talk Medicine they set…

Sharon Van Etten recently released her eerie new music video for the single “Magic Chords“. The single is from the album “Tramp“ which was released on February 7, 2012 (via. Jagjaguwar). The video was directed by Rick Alverson, produced by Rick Alverson & Emilie Rex and the costumes were designed by Custer’s Last Waistband & The Cowboy Prince. Not only does Sharon Van Etten’s song/video kick ass, Tramp is an epic album that you will instantly fall in love with. Get to your local record store and pick up it up. Watch the video below:

Sharon van Etten has generated a lot of buzz lately with her newest release “Tramp” earlier this year as well as her performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (which can be viewed here). Sharon Van Etten graced the stage at The Phoenix last week with her beautiful vocals and awkward-yet-humourous banter… She did not disappoint. Tennis performed at The Phoenix concert theatre last week on their first tourdate with Sharon Van Etten. They played to the chilled out crowd, drawing everyone in despite the lead singers small stature. Her rather large curly hair, which was apparently better than our reviewer (Karlie Hopf) had something to do with them playing an amazing set. Check out the photos below and the review of the show here Photos by: Steve St. Jean

“I wrote that after I dated a hardcore Christian… He was fine.” -Sharon van Etten Maybe it’s because I’ve had the Olympics on my mind, but when BTW’s own Steve asked me if I wanted to go see Tennis, Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley were the farthest things from my mind. But that soon changed. We made it to The Pheonix, just as Tennis started their set. As the crowd hadn’t quite filled in yet, we were able to get a spot right up front. Alaina performed to the chilled out crowd, drawing us all in despite her…
