Gig Review: Týr @ The Opera House (Paganfest 2013)

Review: Týr @ The Opera House (Paganfest 2013)

On April 17th, 2013 I embarked on a grueling journey through the mystic city, fighting off Old English demons, white rock warlocks and weaving in and out of… cars on my 5 minute drive to The Opera House. Let’s start off by saying; this Wednesday night was going to be different… a Viking, Pagan, Nordic lore and mythology kind of different. Paganfest 2013 was amongst us and some seriously good times were already underway as I showed up to The Opera House for Metal Blade Records’ Týr – a folk metal band from the Faroe Islands (approximately halfway between Norway and…

Ensiferum

Paganfest 2013 toured through Toronto on April 17th, 2013 at The Opera House bringing along Helsott, Trollfest, Heidevolk, Týr & Ensiferum. Toronto fans of Viking/Folk Metal got their fill as some of the genre’s best acts completely destroyed the venue with their mystical music. Headliners Ensiferum absolutely owned the stage and were definitely worth the wait to see live! These dudes were huge (literally) and conquered every one of their fans that filled The Opera House. Check out our photos from Ensiferum’s set below: Photography by: Steve St. Jean

We spoke to the guys about their debut self-titled LP (2012), what makes their unique songs “Django Django” and of course how life is exactly like a ceramic bowl. Watch out interview with Django Django below:…

Gig Review: Django Django @ The Opera House

Django Django

“You’ve got rhythm and heart” Last night Toronto welcomed London based rock group Django Django to The Opera House to host the largest show they have played in the city to date. “You’ve got rhythm and heart”, they told the crowd; as they broke into their smash hit songs off Django Django’s 2012 self titled release. The band is gaining huge momentum on the festival circuit, and for good reason. The last time they played in Toronto it was at Wrongbar, back in October. Now only a few months later they’ve drawn a crowd into The Opera House and turned…
