All Time Low‘s headlining tour stopped through Toronto’s Sound Academy last night in support of their recent studio album Don’t Panic via. Hopeless Records. All Time Low’s show reminds me of Blink 182, watching the onstage banter between Mark Hoppus and Tome DeLonge. The All Time Low guys are funny as shit. Jokes about dicks, semen and one girl holding a single CROC resulted in a humorous show while feeding their dedicated fan base solid pop punk anthems over and over again. The show was good! If you’re no longer a teenager but appreciated what Blink was doing back in the day than…

Gig Review: Slash w/ Myles Kennedy @ Sound Academy

Slash

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge), recently stopped by Toronto’s Sound Academy  and I was there to watch the show, drink some beer and experience one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest guitarists. How could you not love a full on Rock ‘n’ Roll show? There’s something that brings some serenity and peace to my soul while attending a rock show. Maybe it’s the jaw dropping guitar tone or the ear piercing decibels that come roaring through you, or maybe it’s the overall great vibe that transfers from one fan to another throughout the crowd. Everyone is always in such a good mood at shows like…

dethklok

Adult Swim announced today that Dethklok will hit the road this fall in the upcoming headline tour with All That Remains, Machine Head, and special guest The Black Dahlia Murder. Kicking off on October 30 in Norfolk, VA, the tour featuring the band from the “Metalocalypse” animated series will make more than 30 stops throughout the United States and Canada before coming to an end in Atlanta, GA. This is without a doubt going to be a kick ass show at Toronto’s Sound Academy (See below for other Canadian dates). I’m definitely pumped to finally see Dethklok as their notorious for having…

News: Alexisonfire Announce Farewell Tour Dates

AOF

With announcement that every Canadian’s favourite band Alexisonfire were dismembering, it came to their fans as a shock and left everyone wanting one more hit of AOF before they were really gone. Clearly this resonated with the band and they decided to put a doomsday clock on their website counting down to some sort of intriguing event, which everyone knew would be the announcement of tour dates. Here’s the official announcment they left on their Facebook page: As promised in 2010 – we’re back for a Farewell Tour. We know that this tour doesn’t reach all of you, and this…

Review: Refused @ The Sound Academy

RefusedFeature

Refused @ The Sound Academy Review & Photos by: Steve St. Jean Refused, the Swedish hardcore punk band originated in 1991, only to break up after a basement gig in a Virginia home in 1998. The band that saw the future of punk rock and created the pathways that every band has followed since then, never even toured their record ‘The Shape of Punk to Come’… Until now. About 15 years later, Refused has reunited to tour the legendary record that transcended time. Toronto was graced with two shows back-to-back at The Sound Academy, where fans from across the GTA got…

Review: The Hives @ The Sound Academy

TheHives-13

The Hives @ The Sound Academy Photos by: Steve St. Jean Review by: Marie Rupolo I walked into the Sound Academy to be greeted by a giant sinister face peering from the back wall of the stage. From it’s fingers hung strings attached to the bands equipment. Just as I finished Instagraming the backdrop, out burst Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist and his band of garage-punk Sweeds all dressed in full tuxedos with tails and top hats. The Hives are simply a band of entertainers, which comes with a slight contradiction as Almqvist announced: “We will be the music, you will be the entertainment. Our…

Review: The Cranberries @ The Sound Academy

The Cranberries – The Sound Academy Review by: Sean Siranni Photos by: Steve St. Jean You would have probably never guessed by looking at my appearance, seeing me strut around in my wardrobe of death metal and battle rap t-shirts that I would be a fan of The Cranberries. To confess they have always been a big guilty pleasure of mine and it goes back to my early childhood of listening to 90′s rock on the radio. Their 1994 hit album “No Need To Argue” was one of the first CD’s I have ever listened to from front to back, and strangely…

Review: Young the Giant @ The Sound Academy

Young The Giant - The Sound Academy Review by: Karlie Hopf  If for some incomprehensible reason, you haven’t had a chance to listen to Young The Giants album or you haven’t purchased it, then at this point in the review is where I would like to pause until you have returned with album in hand (or on computer) and have listened to it in its entirety. Ok. Now we can properly begin. As I prepared for their March 2nd Toronto show, I recapped their album and watched some of their acoustic videos on In The Open (*hint, hint* watch these too!). So I totally thought I knew what…
