The Late 90′s Sound & Scene Revisited

Ontarian’s can recall stumbling to the YMCA and other local venues to see bands like Alexisonfire, Sydney, Grade, Moneen, The Fullblast and so many more. Getting our friends together, underage drinking in the park, making new MySpace friends and ‘moshing’ our little hearts out was the height of (my) youth. The Swellers remind me of all those wonderful things and this Friday is one of two opportunities I’ll get to relive those glorious days. They may not date back to the 90′s but their sound certainly does. And though their only connection (aside from their sound) to GTA “punk” is bassist Anto Boros (formally of Sydney) The Swellers have a sound that will warp you back to some time in the late 90′s/early 2000′s.

Speaking of the late 90′s…

If you can remember the good ol’ days, then you’re well aware of the Final Sellout Show on Saturday, 1 September 2012 featuring
Grade, The Fullblast, Moneen and special guests Lifestory Monologue. Unfortunately this show is completely sold out so if you’re missing out on that, do yourself a favor and head to Sneaky Dee’s this Friday and catch The Swellers with Living with Lions, Daytrader, Major League, River City and Harbour.
