Photos: Blink 182 @ Molson Canadian Amphitheatre

Pop-punk kings Blink 182 returned to Toronto's Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on Sunday, August 22nd. The band is currently on tour promoting their new album 'California', the first with new vocalist Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio).

There's been a lot of buzz surrounding the band ever since founding member Tom DeLonge departed the group, so I (like everyone else) had massive reservations about Skiba taking his spot. The live show was different without the back and forth stage banter between Mark and Tom, but Skiba actually held his ground and looked to be really enjoying himself on stage. If you think about it, it's got to be quite a whirlwind to jump into the spotlight like Skiba has with Blink 182. His band Alkaline Trio never sold out Amphitheatres and amassed such a fan base like Blink 182 has. This band has shaped a generation of listeners and he gets to go along for the ride and do his best to fill the shoes of Tom – and I think he did just that. As for Mark Hoppus (whom never ages) and Travis Barker, these guys killed it just like they always have. I look forward to seeing what the "new" band has in store for us next.
