Photos: Father John Misty @ The Roundhouse

On Thursday, May 19th, I boarded a plane in Toronto began my journey to the UK. It was my second time being in London, but my first time getting a taste of their live music scene. After a long night of travel, I landed at Gatwick Airport and dove right into the usual touristy stuff like seeing the River Thames, Big Ben, crushing Nando's and checking out Southbank skatepark (which is probably not on everyone else's list of things to see).

After killing some time during the day it was finally time to head up to the Camden area where London's epic Roundhouse is located. Father John Misty was scheduled for his third and final sold-out show in a row at the Massey Hall comparable venue. The show was quite different than the last time I saw him at Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. That particular show was right after the release of I Love You, Honeybear (2015) and the setlist featured very few songs off FJM's debut release Fear Fun (2012). The London show was the opposite with a perfect mix of old and new, strangely leaning more heavily on Fear Fun (which I personally loved).

It was a magical night and Josh Tillman shined on the Roundhouse stage. It was a pleasant viewing experience as well, with Londoners barely using their phones to snap photos and video. None of that bullshit that you see happening in North America where you have a cell phone stuck in front of your face blocking your view. It really allowed us to really soak up the entire experience.
