Trivium's Deadmen And Dragons Tour slayed Toronto with Khemmis, Whitechapel, and Between The Buried And Me

Floridian heavy metal band Trivium brought their Deadmen And Dragons Tour to Rebel, the biggest and best Trivium show Toronto's seen.
With Trivium taking the headlining slot, the band brought along metal heavyweights such as; Colorado's Khemmis, Tennessee's Whitechapel, and North Carolina prog masters Between The Buried And Me.
We partnered with Collective Arts to capture the night as part of their Origin of Darkness: A Dark Night Out event that saw two lucky fans getting tickets to the show with a curated tasting of Collective's brand new Origin of Darkness Imperial Stout series. We showed up just as Khemmis were in the middle of an intense but immaculately precise set. Whitechapel dialled it up with an insanely heavy start, supported by a few calmer, moodier tracks that balanced out their set. As Between The Buried And Me hit the stage, it was clear that many fans were at the show for them. The crowd ignited with roars as BTBAM opened with "Sun of Nothing". It was a masterclass in prog metal. BTBAM did not let up throughout the entirety of their performance. They performed a short but extensive setlist with tracks from Colors, The Parallax II: Future Sequence, and Colors II.
Up next was the infamous Matt Heafy and his band Trivium. A white curtain dropped from the ceiling blocking the view of the entire stage. Red eyes lit up on dragon statues flanking each side of the stage. Fog rose up from the bellows of the stage with Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills" blasting in the venue speakers. It was time...
As the curtain fell, the band ripped into "IX" and "What the Dead Men Say" with an intensity that smacked my core. Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu were immediately melting minds with lineup of cabinets dressed with dragon illustrations were positioned behind them. Centre stage was home to a giant dragon head with drummer Alex Bent commanding the stage on a riser. Bass player Paolo Gregoletto kept the pace and energy as he moved back and forth from each side of the stage. Paolo was key to rialing up the crowd using the PA's as his own personal stage, resulting in screams and roars from fans.
Dueling guitars, blast beats, Heafy's tongue, and a custom Kiichi jacket, were some of the highlights that made this show one for the books. As stated from Matt Heafy himself, this was “the biggest show Trivium has played in Toronto”, and they sure as hell made a point to make it the best Trivium show we've seen yet.
