Listen to "Small Sanctuary" by Tycho

Tycho has just released a new single, "Small Sanctuary," which is available now via Ninja Tune/Mom + Pop Music. The song, premiered at this year’s Burning Man, is a personal creation by Scott Hansen, who not only composed, produced, and performed it but also created the original artwork. Collaborating once again with Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear, the track is a heartfelt dedication to his daughter, representing the purity and joy of childhood.

“Innocent and unburdened by the trappings of modern life, children are a pure expression of the human condition,” says Scott Hansen.

“To watch them grow and learn is to witness a sanctuary for the human spirit. I wrote this song for my daughter who brings me limitless joy and inspiration. The artwork represents the menagerie of experiences and ideas that form our selfhood. From early life to adulthood, we collect these things in our memory and they come to define us.”

This single follows the release of "Time To Run" earlier this summer, which came with a narrative-driven music video directed by Patrick Elmore. The new track marks Tycho's return to the signature instrumental style, showcasing Hansen's musical journey over the past two years since the GRAMMY® Award-nominated sixth album, WEATHER.
