Subzero Beats And Fiery Flows: Armand Hammer at The Great Hall

American hip-hop duo Armand Hammer (Billy Woods and Elucid) brought their We Buy Diabetic Test Strips: The Physical Experience to The Great Hall in Toronto on January 22nd, 2024. The duo brought multifaceted emcee Cavalier to kick off the night, quickly warming the Toronto fans from the cold outside with his intricate beats and effortless flows echoing through the space. Rocking American Flag Chuck Taylor All-Stars and a Ralph Lauren scarf, Cavalier declared his love for Ralph Lauren, emphasizing that he was there to share his art, not to represent America, which garnered him some cheers from the audience. He performed a short but sweet set and set the tone for the night.

After a short delay, Armand Hammer wasted no time as they dove straight into "Landlines" from their fantastic 2023 release, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips to start the show. After the first song, they paused to mention that The Great Hall was a sick venue, gave props to its excellent bass and checked in with the crowd to ensure everything sounded on point, reminding us all that this show was meant to be a "Physical Experience."

Armand Hammer's set featured standout tracks such as "Woke Up and Asked Siri How I'm Gonna Die," "I Keep a Mirror in My Pocket" featuring Cavalier and the finale, "Stonefruit" from their acclaimed 2021 album Haram. As the night concluded, the sense of community in The Great Hall was palpable. Fans lingered to meet the artists, buy merchandise, and keep the good vibes going.
