There’s something quietly dazzling about Tobias Jesso Jr.’s new single “I Love You," the stripped-down piano chords, emotional honesty, and a songwriting voice that has matured yet still feels intimately present. Released as the lead from his upcoming album s h i n e, his first full-length in over a decade, the track arrives with a video starring Dakota Johnson and Riley Keough. The song is textbook Tobias Jesso Jr. who over the last decade has become one of the most sought after songwriters of his generation, but comes with a surprisingly intense drum section featuring drummer Kane Ritchotte that closes out the tail end of the song that has us reeling over here at Beyond The Watch. It’s too good.
