Farewell to the Prince of Darkness: Ozzy Osbourne (1948–2025)

July 22, 2025, marks the end of an era in heavy metal. John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne, Black Sabbath’s legendary frontman, solo icon, and cultural force, passed away this morning at 76, peacefully surrounded by his family.

His death comes just weeks after his farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, held July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham. Despite years of battling Parkinson’s and spinal injuries, Ozzy took the stage one final time, performing seated on a throne in a powerful last act.
