Listen to "Fangs" by Loathe

Loathe continue their evolution with “Fangs,” the latest preview of their long-awaited new album A Stranger To You.

Loathe have always been hard to pin down, and “Fangs” leans right into that unpredictability.

It opens in a wash of synth before locking into a groove that feels slightly off-center but still pulls you in. That tension carries through the track as it shifts between heavier moments and something much more spaced out. Ambient textures, acoustic details, and a subtle R&B influence start to take over, giving the song a completely different kind of weight.

What stands out most is how natural those shifts feel. The contrast between heavy and soft has always been part of Loathe’s identity, but here it feels more blended than before. Nothing feels forced. The track moves freely between moods without losing its focus.

After six years without a new album, A Stranger To You has a lot of expectation behind it, especially with how I Let It In And It Took Everything has continued to grow in stature. “Fangs” suggests they are not looking backward. Instead, they are building on what made them stand out in the first place and pushing it further.

With a major US tour coming up, including a stop in Toronto at History on September 20, “Fangs” feels like a strong reintroduction.
