Listen to “Mouthpiece” by Protest The Hero
Protest The Hero are officially back with “Mouthpiece,” the first new music from their upcoming album Within, arriving July 17 and marking their first release in six years.
The track hits with the band’s signature technical intensity but pushes further into sharp, politically driven territory. Frontman Rody Walker frames “Mouthpiece” as a response to a world increasingly reduced to binaries, calling out the forces that flatten nuance into black and white narratives. It is a focused and confrontational return that still leaves room for the band’s dynamic, progressive edge.
Visually, the track is paired with a sweeping video shot across Newfoundland and Labrador. Directed by Troy Maher, the clip blends rugged natural landscapes with the song’s scale and urgency, giving “Mouthpiece” a cinematic backdrop that amplifies its weight.
With Within, Protest The Hero step into a new era as a fully independent band, taking complete control of their sound and direction. If “Mouthpiece” is any indication, this next chapter is set to be one of their most expansive and personal yet.
