Chastity Announce New Album, I Built This Prison Myself

Whitby, Ontario artist Brandon Williams, the driving force behind Chastity, has announced a new full-length album titled I Built This Prison Myself. The record arrives November 13 via Deathwish Inc., with a Canadian release through Dine Alone Records.

Alongside the announcement, Chastity have shared the new single “Misled Youth.” The track blends melodic hardcore, shoegaze and punk, continuing Williams’ emotionally direct approach while introducing the album’s central themes of isolation, survival and self-determination.

Inspired by the history of Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, the album imagines the story of a 16-year-old patient who set fire to a barn on the hospital grounds in 1976. Rather than treating the event as a symbol of destruction, Williams uses it to explore fear, control, powerlessness and the struggle to hold on to your identity.

The album follows Chastity’s 2024 self-titled record and continues a body of work shaped by suburban alienation, mental health and community. Since forming in Whitby in 2015, Williams has helped build a local music scene by organizing independent shows in a rural barn, with past performers including PUP and METZ.
