Best New Music This Week: Chat Pile, Movements, Medium Build, and More

Every Friday, we challenge ourselves to sift through new music releases and curate a list of albums we think you should be listening to.

Leading the charge this week is Chat Pile with Who Loves The Sun, the Oklahoma noise-rock trio’s new studio album, which sharpens their heavy, sludgy sound with alt-rock turns and some of their tightest songwriting yet. Movements land with Happier Now, the California post-hardcore band’s fourth full-length, a polished and emotionally direct album that leans into bigger melodies without losing their introspective edge. Medium Build delivers King Of Having Fun, Nick Carpenter’s sixth album under the moniker, tracing breakdown and recovery through candid, folk- and rock-leaning songs that feel both vulnerable and forward-looking. President arrive with Blood Of Your Empire, the masked UK collective’s debut album, a 10-track statement wrestling with faith, mortality, and modern crisis through dynamic, genre-blurring rock. Rounding things out is Nails with Fear Based Life, a surprise two-song EP that serves as a brutal, high-velocity bridge to the metallic hardcore veterans’ next full-length.
