Puscifer have dropped their latest single, “Pendulum,” offering another glimpse into their forthcoming album Normal Isn’t—set to arrive February 6 via Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG.
Accompanied by a striking video directed by Alisa Akay and Mat Mitchell, “Pendulum” evokes the dark pulse of the ‘80s post-punk underground while introducing fans to Bellendia Black, a haunting new character draped in black fabrics and melancholic allure.
“The dramatic and romantic nature of this track induces a sonic sense memory that transports me back to the dark and moody dance floor of Club Iguana, Austin, TX, circa 1985,” shares Maynard James Keenan. “I can almost smell the clove cigarettes.”
Mat Mitchell adds that the song’s Fairlight textures and reverb-soaked vocals nod to the shadowy aesthetics of that era, while Carina Round describes it as “gorgeous synths coiling around sweet, twisted melodies while the world burns.”
Normal Isn’t promises a raw and unfiltered collection blending Puscifer’s signature dark electronics, biting humor, and experimental edge. The album, written across Arizona, Los Angeles, and on the road, features contributions from Greg Edwards, Gunnar Olsen, Sarah Jones, and guests Tony Levin, Danny Carey, and Mr. Ian Ross.
Fans can pre-order Normal Isn’t here, with limited-edition vinyl variants, CDs, cassettes, and digital formats available.
