Wednesday have announced their next full-length album, Bleeds, set for release September 19 via Dead Oceans. Building on the gritty Southern rock and poetic storytelling that’s become their trademark, Bleeds sees the North Carolina band push deeper into their own identity with what frontwoman Karly Hartzman calls “the quintessential ‘Wednesday Creek Rock’ album.”

Alongside the announcement, they’ve dropped a new single and music video, “Wound Up Here (By Holdin On),” a haunting narrative inspired by a real-life tragedy in West Virginia and shaped by a borrowed line from a friend’s poetry. It follows last month’s “Elderberry Wine,” a widely praised track that marked the band’s TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. With Bleeds, Wednesday are primed to deliver another chapter of raw, literate rock that confesses as much as it captivates.
