King Tuff Finds His Groove Again With New Album MOO

After a few years spent wandering through softer sonic territory, King Tuf, the alter ego of Burlington, Vermont’s Kyle Thomas, is charging back into rock ’n’ roll mode with his sixth studio album, MOO, out March 27 via MUP Records and Thirty Tigers.

Thomas describes MOO as a “return to joy.” After the more introspective landscapes of The Other (2018) and Smalltown Stardust (2023), he realized what he missed most was the raw, live-wire energy of his earliest work. To recapture that feeling, he moved back to Vermont, dusted off his old Tascam 388 tape machine, plugged in his vintage Gibson SG, and dove into recording with a renewed sense of purpose. The album even comes packaged with a hand-made newspaper, The Daily Moo.

Leading the charge is the new single “Twisted on a Train,” written and recorded in just a few hours. The woozy, kinetic track, and its self-directed video, capture the story of a surreal overnight train ride from Tucson to Los Angeles, complete with weed gummies, insomnia, and a whole lot of observation car soul-searching.

King Tuff will be taking MOO on the road this year with a North American tour featuring support from Morgan Nagler, Gabriel Bernini, and Mod Lang. For all the Toronto fans, King Tuff will be playing the Sound Garage at Blood Brothers Brewing on May 16, 2026.
