Reuben and the Dark Share “Haven Hill” Ahead of New Album If You Know Me You Know My Brother

Calgary-based indie folk outfit Reuben and the Dark have shared their new single, “Haven Hill,” from their forthcoming album If You Know Me You Know My Brother. The record arrives October 9 via bandleader Reuben Bullock’s Pulling Up Arrows imprint.
Frontman Reuben Bullock explains that “Haven Hill” was written during a major life shift and completed in 2017, but felt too personal to release until now. The song is named after a friend’s property in Joshua Tree, California, where Bullock spent time during a solo motorcycle trip from Montreal toward New York and back.
The album follows the death of Bullock’s older brother earlier this year and serves as the last record he was able to show him. Many of the songs were written with his brother in mind, exploring childhood trauma, addiction, family, forgiveness and the ways love continues after loss.
If You Know Me You Know My Brother will feature 10 tracks and follows previous singles “All My Money,” “Bird Over The Sea” and “Send Me Thunder.” The band will celebrate the album with a Canadian tour this fall and winter, including a stop at Toronto’s Longboat Hall on October 21.
