DIIV Announce New Album ZIRP! and Share “The Fountain”

Brooklyn alternative rock band DIIV have officially announced their fifth studio album, ZIRP!, due October 30 via Fantasy Recordings. Alongside the announcement, the band has released “The Fountain,” a sprawling new single that introduces a brighter, more immediate direction for the group.

Produced by British pop innovator A. G. Cook, ZIRP! follows DIIV’s acclaimed 2024 album Frog in Boiling Water. The new record takes its title from the economic term “zero interest rate policies,” while expanding on the band’s established shoegaze and grunge influences with sharper pop instincts, more pronounced hooks and a newfound sense of lightness.

“The Fountain” brings together DIIV’s familiar guitar-heavy atmosphere with a more propulsive rhythmic foundation and arena-sized momentum. The track was recorded with an emphasis on live drums, intricate guitar parts and physical performances, with Cook describing the album as a chance to push DIIV into new territory.

The single arrives after a cryptic rollout that included a fan hotline and mailed promotional materials. DIIV will perform at Balaclava Fest in Brazil on September 27 before supporting Interpol on select North American dates in October, including stops in Toronto and Montréal:
